Mammoth 22 track album recorded on Saturdays January-July 1993 and released on Ruth Miller's tiny independent label Rutland Records. Although the songs have a happy jangly feel to them, the lyrics reflect ordinary female experience that includes unfulfillment, loss, bullying, questioning and the class struggle. John Peel played tracks on his show and invited Po! do do a session for his BBC Radio 1 show.

lyrics

Mother I want to leave this body far behind
Go for a walk in someone else’s shoes
Going out and kissing the world
With lips that are not mine.

Mother I tried to be what you want of me
Hustle to get me to the church on time
Stepping out in peaches and pearls
And lips that are not mine.

Tickle the tongues that wag.

Mother I want to see the other side to life
Facing the earth not staring at the sky
Going out and kissing the world
With lips that are not mine.

After a Peel session and an NME single of the week, Ruth gave it all up 1999-2016 but the band are back with new songs! ... more
